When Not Climbing… try to R-E-A-D

Whoo-hoo! I received my copy of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck volume 1 today. Holding the book in my hands makes me feel as if I’m Uncle Scrooge—all ready to enjoy the pleasure of diving into the wealth (not of coins in the money bin, but) of story and artwork by Don Rosa.
When The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck volume 1 did not arrive with volume 2, I got anxious. I went to the publisher’s website, and to my horror found out that volume one was out of print. But I had ordered my copy from amazon.com, and I was told I would have to wait a couple of weeks. A week plus went by and no news. I started sourcing elsewhere, and I was lucky to find a copy. The sad part was I had to pay a lot extra for shipping. Still, this was a chance to get it. I put in an order, and when I got the confirmation that volume 1 had been sent, I canceled my order from amazon.com. After two weeks, I have the book in my hands. This is one of those rare times when amazon.com lost out.
But I don’t own amazon.com. I’m just glad I’ve got both volumes to read.
And perhaps I should jump right into it. After all, I need a break from trekking every once in a while. I’m trying to get ready for a long trek in December; two weeks back, I was up Gunung Ledang, and then I soloed Gunung Datuk last weekend. I must have stayed in the sun for far too long when I got carried away photographing insects at the summit of Gunung Datuk. After two days, I’m still feeling the heat within—I feel cooked—and feeling a little ill.
I suppose the remedy in to stay in bed to read my two volumes of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is the answer.
